| Glamour
illustrations with an Art Nouveau flair evolved out of a painting for
Charleston Magazine, originally
created to promote the Annual Charleston Fashion Walk. Banks' illustration
featured a 1920's flapper strutting the runway of the pictureseque cityscape
dock and was sold during the following Spoleto Festival USA at St. Matthew's
Tea Room.
This
prompted the creation of a new series of "Fashion Ladies" with
seasonal themes, commissioned by a Los Angeles-based art distributor and
quickly licensed to vendors throughout the country, including JCPenney,
Bed, Bath & Beyond, Ariel of France and Arts
& Artifacts Catalogue. Banks' fashion ladies have been reproduced
as canvas giclee prints, 3-D resin wall plaques and framed prints. These
Art Nouveau-esque themes are the current focus of Banks' newest series
of paintings featuring glamour lady scenes from London, New York, Venice
and Paris.
